How To Create An Offer

What are Offers?

Offers are rewards or incentives that you give to your customers. They can be discounts or freebies! You can use offers for various reasons like making up for a bad experience, running promotions, or just to say thank you.

Customers might get an offer for completing a survey or as a prize in a lucky draw.  Offers can also bring back customers who had a bad experience and turn them into loyal regulars.

Create an Offer

To make an offer in Momos:

  1. Go to the Activate section.
  2. Click on Campaigns, then go to Offers.
  3. You'll land on the "Create Offer" page.

This page is divided into four sections: General, Offer Details, Offer Conditions, and Offer Schedule.

Let’s go through them one by one!

General

In the General section, you'll find fields to describe your offer:

Offer Name:

Name your offer. The Offer name will show up on the landing page of the survey it is attached to. However, it will not show up on the Offer email, nor the Offer redemption screen.

Brand:

Choose a brand for the offer; only one brand per offer.

Applicable Modules:

  •  Choose whether the offer is specifically for "Digital Marketing", "Customer Feedback" or for "All". By default, "All" is selected.
  • If set to “Digital marketing”, the offer will be eligible only for ads and outbound campaigns.
  • If set to “Customer Feedback”, the offer will be eligible only for use in Inbox, Surveys & Forms.

Location:

Select the outlet(s) where the offer can be redeemed. You can choose multiple outlets. Choosing "All" includes any new outlets automatically.

Issuance Type:

Choose Immediate or Lucky Draw.

  • Immediate: The Immediate issuance type are your standard offers, where customers can be issued an offer and redeem it based on your Offer creation settings.
  • Lucky Draw: Select a number of customers to receive the offer within a set time frame (two new fields will pop up).

Fields Under Lucky Draw:

  • Number of Customers: This field will indicate how many customers will be chosen as winners in the lucky draw. The customers who will be receiving the offer can be chosen manually and randomly.

  • Issuance Time: Set the date at which the winners of the lucky draw can be selected. Customers are eligible to enter the lucky draw until after the issuance day. For example, if your issuance day is 12 Feb, customers are still eligible to enter in the lucky draw, but not on 13 Feb onwards.

  • On the day of issuance, you may select the winners or you may choose randomly. Winners will be issued the offer instantly via their email.

  • Do note that Lucky Draw offers are standalone, and can not be attached to a Survey or used in Inbox

Offer Details

Next, in the Offer Details section, you specify the offer or incentive being given. You have three options to choose from: Percentage Off, Free Item, or Discount Off.

For all offer types, you would need to choose the currency that will be used for your offer. The currency will be reflected on the offer card.

Select Offer Type

Percentage Off:

  • Choose Percentage Off when you want to give a discount based on a percentage of the total purchase price, rather than giving away a free item or reducing the total bill by a specific amount.

Enter percentage off:

  • This is where you specify the percentage discount you want to offer to customers.

  • For example, if you set it to 20%, customers will receive a discount of 20% off the total price of their purchase.

Enter cap on discount amount:

  • To limit the discount amount, you can set a cap in the "Enter cap on discount amount" field. This is where you set a limit on how much discount can be applied to a single purchase.

  • For instance, if you set a cap of $50, no customer will receive a discount greater than $50 on their purchase, regardless of the percentage off.

Free Item:

  • Use Free Item if you want to offer a specific item instead of a discount.

Name of free item:

  • Simply add the name of the free item that will show on your offer card.

  • One thing to note is that Momos already adds “Free” at the start by default. So if you type “Free Fries” it will show up as “Free Free Fries” in the offer card.

  • You can only select either the "Minimum Order" or "With the Purchase of" field. The unchosen field will be greyed out and cannot be used.

Offer Conditions

In the Offer Conditions section, you can customize how the offer works. Choose between In-Store or Online redemption.

In-Store Redemption:

Choose In-Store if customers must redeem offers at a physical store.

Request Sale Amount from Diner:

You can ask diners for their bill total before redeeming the offer. You can set this as Mandatory or Optional for tracking sales.

Request Customer Phone Number:

You can collect customer phone numbers. This can be Mandatory or Optional. An additional field will appear for the customer to put their phone number in.

Maximum Issuances:

Set a maximum number of issuance of the offer. Once the maximum number of offer is issued, the offer will become inactive and no further issuances can be made. But all issued offers will still be valid until expiration.

Pin Code:

To avoid accidental redemptions from the customer, a pin code can be set. It's set at the brand level, so all outlets have the same code.

This ensures verification and avoids staff having to remember multiple codes. The code can be edited later. Customers need the pin code to redeem the offer.

Blackout Period:

For offers attached to surveys, this sets a delay between the issuance of the offer and it becoming redeemable. For example, if the "Blackout Period" is 2 hours, a customer that submits the survey at 4pm will only be able to redeem their offer at 6pm.

Blackout period only works for offers attached to a survey.

Per Customer Redemption:

Choose how many times each customer can use the offer.

  • Once: Offer can only be used once per customer (based on the email address used to receive the offer)
  • Once at a Time: Customer can use the offer again after using a previous one.
  • Unlimited: Customer can use the offer as many times as they want. Use only for manually issued offers by staff.

Online Redemption:

Channel Selection:

Select the platforms where the offer can be used.

For Both Online and In Store Redemption:

Coupon Codes:

You are able to attach either a single code that will apply to all issued offers or multiple codes that will be randomly assigned for each offer. The coupon code will be shown in the offer email that the customer will receive.

  • Customers provide their codes to staff to redeem the offer.
  • You can also use scannable QR codes or barcodes for convenience.
  • Codes can be uploaded from a POS or delivery platform for easy redemption at purchase and tracking sales on Momos.

Single Code:

Enter the code for the offer. The code allows alphanumerical and special characters, spaces are also allowed.

Multiple codes:

For multiple codes, there are three different ways for you to set up the codes for the offer. Multiple codes can be placed manually, uploaded, or generated through Momos:

When uploading coupon codes, it should be under .csv format and should look like this:

                                             Untitled (3).png

No other columns or headers are required. Just put the coupon codes in one column.

If generating codes in Momos, choose between Alphanumeric or Numeric format. Specify the code length and how many codes to generate.

After clicking Generate, you'll see a prompt confirming successful generation and a download button.

Do take note that when using this option, the "Maximum Issuance" field (in offer conditions) cannot be edited, and will be tied to the number of codes.

Offer Schedule

Finally, there's the Offer Schedule section. Here, you set the dates and times for the offer.

Expiration Date:

Optional and can be turned off.

Redemption Period:

When activated, customers have a set number of days to redeem the offer after receiving it. It creates urgency for customers to use the offer.

  • Customers cannot use the offer after its expiration date.
  • If the redemption date is after the expiration date, the offer expires on the expiration date.
  • Momos will display the closer date between the redemption date and the expiration date.

Offer eligible whenever location is open:

Optional setting that syncs the offer's availability with the business's operating hours.

  • When turned off, users can set a specific timeframe for the offer to be active.
  • This is handy for strategies like happy hour discounts during slower times of the day.
